.:song meaning:.
so i was driving around one day listening to the old John Mayer CD. usually i skip over the song 3x5, primarily because i don't like it as much as 83. yet, this time i decided i'd listen attentively. wow, so i don't think i ever thought about the phrases in the song like "didn't have a camera by my side this time/ hoping i would see the world through both my eyes....you should have seen that sunrise, with your own eyes/ it brought me back to life...oh today i finally overcame/ trying to fit the world inside a picture frame." it kinda hit me that much of time we spend sight-seeing we spend with one eye glancing over the sight, while the other eye squints through a small viewer to take millions of pictures. a picture is worth a thousand words, true. yet sometimes we get more out of place not from the snapshot to job our memories years later, but from the memory of scruntinizing every pixel of the landscape, leaving no stone unturned. it's similar to lookin at pictures of a gorgeous sunset over the horizon--that picture is sensitive and provocative even if one has never seen such a sunset. yet how much more weight does that sunset carry as i stare at it from the shore. Grandeur of nature is found in nature, and partially captured in pictures.
